Corrections

If you think a figure on this site is wrong, tell us three things: which page and which number, what you believe the correct figure is, and which primary source supports it. We will check it against the underlying file and correct in place with a dated note. Our full policy is on the corrections page.

Data requests

If you want a cut of our data that we have not published, ask. We hold state-level and firm-size detail behind most of our indexes that does not make it onto the page. There is no charge for this and we do not ask what you want it for.

Reuse and citation

Our derived datasets are published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence. You do not need permission to reproduce them, including commercially. Attribute The Pest Control Brief and link to the page the data came from. Every data page carries a “cite this” line with the exact wording.

Journalists working to a deadline should say so. We will prioritise the reply and can usually supply the underlying spreadsheet.

Story tips

Regulatory changes, acquisitions, exam or fee changes at a state board, and anything that materially changes what it costs to run a route are all of interest. We protect sources.

What we cannot help with

We do not give pest management advice for a specific property, we cannot recommend a company in your area, and we do not mediate disputes between customers and contractors. For a specific infestation, contact a licensed applicator in your state. For a complaint about a licensed company, your state pesticide regulatory agency handles enforcement.
